So my best friend started shooting heroin about 8 months ago. It was a shock to all of us, so he went to rehab, got out, started banging out again, then went back to rehab. He’s been clean ever since but has been going to the Methadone clinic every morning like clock work, he has my full support but we got in a fight the other day because I tried to tell him he was still a fiend. I mean he’s obviously addicted to Methadone and he said his milligram was really high, so he still gets faded like he was shooting dope.

Is it wrong me to still call him a fiend???

Question by Katherine: Is it normal to stop menstruating while on methadone?
I have been doing the methadone program for a little over two months now (got my first carry today, yay!) I’m recovering from oxycontin and dilaudid addiction. Anyways, I haven’t had a period since the first week of august and it is now mid october. I am slightly underweight, but always have been for most parts of my life. (I looked up my bmi today just to figure shit out and its 17.9) I had been overeating at the beginning of the year and gained twenty pounds, and when I started eating normal I lost more weight than I wanted to and can’t gain any back now for some reason. But I’ve never had a problem menstruating at this weight, its been the same mostly for the last five years, as it is quite natural for my frame and genetics. So I’m wondering, is it the methadone or the sudden weight loss? And when should I be expecting it to come back? Will it come back when my body gets used to the methadone for longer or gets used to being my usual weight again? If I could get a doctor, nurse or someone who’s experienced this to give a detailed answer of what I should expect that’d be great.    Read more...

Question by ??? ??: Can you get your pain medication back after taking Suboxone?
I was wondering i was on Suboxone for 4 months before that I was taking 7.5 lortabs, I was wondering because I’ve done some research Suboxone isn’t good or any help. I have cronic lower back pain and I was wondering if I could get my pain medication back? And why I went to a subonone clinc was because there was and accident in my family where my aunt got shot in the face. But I wasn’t ” abusing ” loratabs I wanted to save myself. But I can’t bare the pain no more! Help! Please thank you.
Old goat, I wasn’t sent to a sub clinic. My PCP ( primary care physician ) knows my story knows my life knows everything! Just like I said about my aunt I just wanted to save myself more. And I heard subs are not good. And thank you for your answer.    Read more...

Question by Andrew Ostrowski: What do you do if your insurance only gives 20 visits per year and you need more..?
I was getting addiction treatments last winter for an oxy habit, unfortunately the rehab, therapy, and all the psych visits for my suboxone treatment used up all of my available visits for “mental health or substance abuse” per year. I have been having alot of symptoms of depression lately..”crying spells, intense need to be held,severe fatigue, horrid sleep patterns, etc..” and don’t have any more visits available. I don’t have a job as i just graduated last year and am too weak to work more than an hour or so per day anyway. I have caresource which i think is medicaid based. Is there anyway i can get them to allow me to see a psychiatrist or are there any other ways to get help with this kinda thing?    Read more...
