am a 58 year old man who has been on methadone for about 14 years now and
have been thinking about getting off…can you give me any words of
    encouragement?

  • Kent M:

Hi! I am 53 . On methadone about 7 years. My body and my mind were sick
from years of abuse. I wanted to try something different. Anything was
better than what I was going through. I decided to get off. It took me a
year to go from 85 to 25. I asked my Doctor for help with the anxiety. She
gave me valium. About 2 days I was over the withdrawal. Valium relived the
anxiety but no sleep, runs, stomach upset. All of that subsided within a
week. 8 months now & so worth it. Please keep me updated…

I think I might keep it and turn it into something useful.
