I Don”t Understand How Methadone Helps Heroin Addicts? Could Someone Explain? I Don’t Understand.?

Question by Bob: I don”t understand how methadone helps heroin addicts? Could someone explain? I don’t understand.?

withdrawing from heroine can be fatal, while withdrawal from methadone is not. So the heroine addict is gradually changed over to methadone, and then safely weaned off of it.

Because it helps reduce the effects from withdraw from the heroin. Heroin withdraw can be fatal and very dangerous for a person to go through by supplmenting the addiction to that with methadone they can safely help the person withdraw from the herion. Here is some more info on why it was made and the make up of it also what is is used for I hope this helps you. Just as a side note most insurance companies will not cover this type of treatment.
Methadone/dolophine, was first synthesized in 1937 by German scientists Max Bockmühl and Gustav Ehrhart at IG Farben (Hoechst-Am-Main, now part of Frankfurt, Germany) during their search for an analgesic that would be easier to use during surgery (and less potentially addictive, post-op) than morphine. Methadone is a Schedule II drug under the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs.[1]

For Those Who Have Used Suboxone????

Question by serenity113001: For those who have used Suboxone????
I have a few questions about this medication…My bf is currently on it for his heroin use and I would like to hear from anyone who has/is been on this medication and how they dealt with it while using it and those who have been able to live life without it. Did you experience any side effects? Did you drink more caffeine? (My boyfriend asked bc he is up to 10 cups a day…though I think it is him getting back to work and the time change…) What was life like once you were off of it? Any withdrawal symptoms? Did you use again or did you have the urge? If so, how did you fight it??? Any answers would be appreciated from those who have any sort of experience with this subject as I worry considering what I have been through with my bf before he decided to finally get clean…Thanks : )

How Long Does 1 Suboxone Stay in Uds?

I personally take it, so here ya go:

Technically, the period of effectiveness is put somewhere at 24-32 hours, meaning that it can ease withdrawal symptoms and block the effect of other opiates/opioids for about that long. However, practically, I start to feel like I need to take another around 18-24 hours later. My back begins to hurt, etc. But I have been taking it for quite some time, so perhaps that is just because I have taken it for some time. From what I remember when I first began taking it, it lasted quite a while. But it doesn’t really matter, because if you take your medicine every day as the doctor tells you to, then you will not experience any withdrawal and the safeguards will remain in effect.
