At 75mg (my highest dose) I started a 5mg per week? taper. Clinic said “we don’t recommend this” I said “I’m doing it.” It was totally fine until 20mg, so I slowed down to 2mg per week. At 5mg it got hard again (not super hard, I’m just a wimp!) so I slowed to 1mg per week and twice I stayed for two weeks. I remained on 1mg about 3 weeks but at home (I got 6 take homes/week) was tapering under 1mg. Clinic’s pump couldn’t give less than 1mg. At maybe 1/4 mg I stopped with very little withdrawal.
That’s really interesting, because opiate withdrawals of any opiate/opioid have always been said to? be essentially harmless. I wonder if your friend had other medical issues? Died from methadone withdrawal? Wow, medically speaking that is an *extremely* unusual scenario. Yes it feels like you are goning to die, but I’ve never heard of opiate w/d being actually medically/physically/mentally dangerous. Interesting. And, I’m very sorry for you and your friend as well.

I would do anything to be able to get off methadone…besides go through withdrawals. Methadone w/d’s killed a friend of mine. The US government makes too much money on addicts and clinics to legalize ibogaine here. Imagine a USA/ EARTH without addiction, would = World Peace almost and the government would rather fill their pockets than have? wolrd peace.War on drugs means keep people on drugs.

Ive been on methadone for 10 yrs,coming off these? liquid handcuffs is ten times harder then smack–I only wished i kicked the gear when i had a chance,,This coming down and detoxing is bullshit, Its just fooked up..
Methadone is only the thing that can help the body cope with withdrawal but it is not an effective way to curb the addiction. You need love and people who really care around. When I was stuck? on it, I had to battle it by myyself because I was too afraid to share. So if you have a druggie friend, dont shun her/him away. Saving a life is never a lost cause

I believe that film was called Detox of Die. A sitter is a must in my opinion unless a person is taking a low dose as a booter. The flood dose required for interrupting an active addition isn’t really safe to do alone. Even if it was, a lot of people would seriously regret it after they start puking all over themselves because there isn’t a sitter to help them direct their puke into a bucket.? You’re essentially helpless at high doses. Please use a sitter people.
