Did they tell you methadone kills? Did they allow you to drive home the first day you took your first dose? Did the doctor give you or order any physical tests to see if you had any kind of abnormaities that if? you were to be put on methadone it could hurt you?
I know because of the talk I used to hear at my clinic (thankfully I only go once a week now) that the vast majority of patients are still using many other drugs incl. benzos.? I would bet many methadone deaths are the fault of mixing with other drugs & taking too much. A very good guess from the talk I’ve heard. I stand on methadone being extremely safe when used properly, but I’m glad I’m almost done with it.
Sorry, Lori862, you might have had this experience somewhere, but my clinic is just not the nightmare scenario you have presented here. When I told them I wanted to go down by 5mg/wk it was a simple “we don’t recommend that, but rather 2-3mg/wk may be easier for you.” They did not try hard to keep me from doing 5mg, but said actually I could go up to 10mg/wk down but more than that & I’d have to have an appointment with clinic? Dr first. I’ve never felt pushed, controlled, or psycho-influenced.
everyday ten people die from methadone. are you really that much sure that the cause? of these people’s deaths is METHADONE? what about other deseases and disorders- what’s their treatment (medical) percent of succes ?!?!?!
It’s also about the clinic’s? agenda!
They don’t slowly administer you at the clinics tho. They make it so easy to go up and so hard to come down cause they will give you every excuse they can think of to keep you there as long as they can. They play mind games with you then tell you you are the one that is playing the mind games. As long as you go along with everything they feed you you are fine but once? you start thinking for yourself, you have control issues and your not ready to come down.
You know and make you think the sky will fall if you keep decreasing. And they try to see how many people are timid and insecure,? people that are afraid of authority and they prey on those types because they know those are the type of people they can control. But if you stand up for yourself, they tell you that you have control issues. They use a lot of psychology on you. Whatever they can get away with they will use against you. Don’t tell them you have a headache and ask for a decrease.
Oh yeah that’s what I mean. They try to keep you there as long as possible. They try to scare you thinking the withdrawals are the worst thing in the world so you are afraid to even try to come? down. If they were honest they would say ok, we’ll give you a 5mg. decrease and you let me know how you feel after a week. If you can’t handle it we’ll take you back up but if you can we’ll try another 5mg. decrease, you know something like that. Not tell you OH NO! THAT”S SUICIDE!…Continued…
At my clinic I said I want to go down 5mg per week with a possible 10mg per week reduction. I was told, simply “we don’t recommend the 10mg and 5mg is probably hard & you shouldn’t do it, but I was never told what I can & can’t do. I said “that’s what I’m going to do, starting today.” I think many people at done clinics are not used to standing up & speaking up for themselves, doing homework & making up their OWN minds. I’m almost done & 5mg/week is fine, but I’ll likely go slower? around 10mg.
Valium doesn’t do anything for? pain… Unless maybe you take enough to just pass out.
If? that’s in milligrams, that is an insanely high dose, in my opinion. (About six and-a-half days worth, by MY prescription.)
Yes these clinics ought to be illegal. They don’t care about the people only about their wallets. They know how difficult it is to get off methadone.? More difficult than heroin. They will take you higher & higher easily. Ask for a decrease and it’s so slow but they tell you it’s best for you! Bullshit! It’s best for their wallets.
