How do you help Drug Addicts with children?

Texan Firefly asked:

My cousin and his girlfriend have been using Heroin for a few months now. They have used up all of their resources for money and are now going to a Methadone clinic. They have no jobs, no money and in the middle of this are very small children. Apparently these two boneheads are using child support payments for the one child to pay for their Methadone at the clinic. They are living with my aunt – who is at her wits end with this situation and she is going to throw them out. They do not want to go to rehab and have no intention of bettering themselves or trying to support their children. Now they will have no place to live. Is this enough for child services to get involved? We are worried for everyone involved – but mainly the children….

Question for drug addicts, ex or current =] PLEASE READ?

Stevi and DeShaun asked:

i have been with my boyfriend for about 6 months. when we first met he was going to the methadone clinic (after being ‘clean’ from herion) and taking about 110 mg a day. he was also taking pain pills to enhance the high of the opiates (sp?) or something like that. i am not positive if he was even clean from herion, because he best friend was doing it everyday in his room, and i dont understand why he would still want to be around it..? anyways, we moved away from his clinic and he started disappearing for hours while going to dose. after a big fight, he decided to stop doing cold turkey. this was in january. i recently moved out to save money and since then he has been acting funny. secretly talking to his friend who now lived with 3 miles who he always did drugs with. bedroom activity is off & on, which is unusual. i noticed him nodding off last week. i got an at home drug test and asked him to take it. he flat out REFUSED!! 4 days later, he wants to take it. i told him its to late, im not stupid drugs leave your system blah blah blah.

i know he was really really proud of himself after he went through withdrawals in the beginning, so i figure he would be proud to test clean!! i told him no matter what the outcome, i would still be there. and i will be!!! so, why refuse..??
here’s an example of when we talk about him doing drugs…

me: i should have known when i met you that when i came down to it, drugs would be chosen over me. even though i know you love me, im pretty sure losing me is easier then stopping drugs.

him: the only thing i can see to do now is take your test
what the fuck
that is not true at all and you cannot sit there and say what the fuck i would do
I would never choose anything over you
‘i would rather die and that is the truth
i dont see how you can sit there and say you should have known, why would i change in the first place?
you think this is a game to me or something
you are my future and nothing else and when i say you, I mean our future together, because that is all I really want is to have a future with you, making you happy, providing for us, not me or you, just us
CONTINUED..

me: can i ask you something??
have you done anything drugwise since you stopped going to the clinic? at all..?

him: i’ve taken opiate blockers, it prevents you from getting high
is that what you want to hear
i’m such an addict that i to prevent myself from using i made it impossible
now i dont even worry about it?
but obviously you do

after the patient gets to the high dose why dont they make them wean off,to see a family member killing their?

wendy c asked:

after patients work their way up to a high dose why aint they made to work their way back down and wean off of the drug it is awfull to watch a family member killing their self on a legal high, and it is also awfull watching a family member do the things they do to get the money to get the legal high every day.from what i understand it is to get people off of other drugs, but it is no different than buying off the street except the government is getting a pocket full to,i know women who sell their body and do what ever else they have to do to get the drug or get the money to go to the clinic.i wish every methadone clinic would blow sky high. it is a awfull feeling for the parents of the younger ones on this legal high,we are watching our children die from a legal high and cant do nothing about it

Why did sure Jell work for me the first 6 times I took it for my u/a’s but now it’s not working anymore?

hoylelisa1973 asked:

My boyfriend and I have been using sure jell to pass pee tests at our methadone clinic for months now. He passes every time but now I still have a small amount of thc in mine-last time it was 88 but the one time I did not use Sure Jell it was 984. We smoke everyday about 8-10 j’s a day-which is a lot for some people I know.It worked fine in the beginning even with that heavy of use and we always smoke the night b4 and usually one that morning-when we first wake up.The tests are unannounced so we never know when- I have one this morning and I’ve not smoked anything and i’m doubling the sure jell-2 box’s and 2 gallons water-You have 2 drink a gallon of water with each box. Sure Jell does work on everyone else I know though but it only removes THC. It will not clean out pill’s. Our methadone levels are still fine it just clears the weed out for a few hour’s. I also got one of those certa packs of liquid fruit pectin i’ll take with another glass of water.Any ideas guys?

How can I help my niece who is addicted to Narcotics?

DeeDee asked:

She says she needs to go to a Methadone Clinic, but all I see in Tampa are out patient. I’m so scared she’s going to end up killing herself if doesn’t get help–But I seriously don’t believe she’s hit Rock bottom yet. I have Temp custody of her 11 month old baby girl and she has been with me since her birth. My niece is living in this fantasy world and a very unreasonable person–I can’t do this anymore. The baby lives with me and I have assistance for her, but now the Mother is wanting to get medicaid for herself to go to a Methadone clinic–Now she wants me to put the baby’s Medicaid BACK in her name!! I just can’t do that, I don’t trust her.–She is in NO condition to take care of this baby.
Is there ANY other way to get her In Patient help without her getting Medicaid? Or can she get Medicaid for this–even though I had to comply with Child Support enforcement–which they said she couldn’t–HELP–How do I help this girl and keep the baby–I can’t have her snatching the baby from here–This is her home!
She was also supposed to pick up the baby’s WIC on Friday, but called and canceled–she lied to me about it and said THEY made a mistake with her appointment–But I spoke to them and they said SHE didn’t show up and DID have an appointment!
If anyone has any advice–I sure would appreciate it–I’m going through hell with this girl. I don’t want her taking the baby back in her condition.
