My God, you people are ignorant! She's not asking about meth, but methadone! If she was on it while she was pregnant, she was trying to QUIT using drugs for the sake of her baby!

Honestly, I can't answer your question. I Googled it and the only info I could find was that taking methadone is much safer for mother and baby than using drugs. Maybe there's a social service in your area you could call to get info if your doctor can't help you. I'm sure if you call your local welfare office they could give you a number to call. Sorry I can't help you. Good luck.

my baby cousin was born on meth and he was born addicted to it. They said you don't know the long term affects until they are older, but some of the affects that they can have are learning disabilities, growth problems, social problems and all around health problems. The affect on the mother is the child WILL be taken away. In my cousins case he was taken away for a few months and lived with my aunt then was given back to his biological mother. CPS sucks out here, she should never had gotten him back, she is an unfit mother and doesn't deserve him.

If you are immature enough to be using drugs, then you shouldn't even be having this baby. The effects could be very severe and often, with special needs children, it is very costly to give them the extra special care that they need. So, think about that, too.

Look. I weaned off 200mg's of this stuff and am off it completely. I was on it two years. When I weaned off it I did not sleep for 4 months straight. I could not walk, And the leg burning is a typical acute opiate withdrawal symptom that gets so bad in the lower legs it feels like there is a fire in your bone marrow. The fatique is very typical and take a lot of vitamin C and B-12 and B-6. And when you buy it make sure you need whatever else you need to make these vitamins works. I think B-12 just needs protein to work. It has been a long time since I was in school.

5mg? that is it? How long where you on this? I need to know how long you were taking it how much of a dose and this can go on up to two weeks or more. Just 5mg's though I doubt it. E-mail me at.

You can take L-tyrosine a amino acid, you can buy Milk thistle ONCE the drug is out of you for three days, eat a bunch or proteins and go to the health food store and buy a vitamin supplement called Emergen-C. Also fish oil everyday and or flax seed oil. These supplements are endorsed by a doctor.

DO this for 6 months man! eat proteins like crazy, your cells need to re-build themselves and proteins are the building blocks of amino acids.I think. Drink V-8, Carrot juice etc. Proteins all govern the proper way in which neuro transmissions from the brain that regulate everything, getting you back to normal in short. Although this might not be the medical way to put it. It is right.

The milk thistle (You must buy this) aids and brings your liver to normal function and will clean the crap out, Methadone leeches vitamins out of your body by slowing down metabolizim. And it's constant grab on receptors fools your body into thinking you are fine.

See, what you must realize is after the third day of not having Methadone, there is still some in you, so as it gets depleted you are going to withdrawal harder, the first three days are actually the easiest. But 5mg's is nothing. I took a 80 mg cut right off the top of my dose but it does not matter, your pain is your pain but I am only saying this because it can be much worse. If your walking up stairs my friend, you are fine. I couldn't get out of bed for two months.

IIf you can take Darvocet and I mean like TWO a day at the most for just 2 days ONLY, do it. If you can tolerate it only!

It is the exact same thing as Methadone minus a oxygen atom or vise-versa and will help but DO not take if it gives you heart issues, and do not use more than two days at twice a day. And that takes a lot of balls for me to mention that but it will help. It is just not good advise because Darv's mess with people SO, take only if you know how your body responds to it.

EDIT: and remember these supplements are not miracle cures. In other words you are not going to take them and feel like you pushed a button. 6 Months of Methadone has long term effects on the body and how your body functions. It will take time for your body to get back in sink and have your brain (Pituitary gland) make endorphins again properly) this is the real deal.

This is why I encourage anyone that is on Methadone and can do it without huge increases all the time (Or any other disruptions of normal living) to just stay on it.

Unfortunately this could continue for some time, weeks even. If I were you I'd try to last it out. I think there are other lesser drugs that you could be switched over to which would ease you off it more gently. Might be worth checking out.

You can't help this friend by mixing him drugs like you're some sort of pharmaceutical bartender. Methadone is a powerful narcotic. Dilauded is the synthetic medical equivalent of Heroine. Now you want to add ETOH (alcohol)?

Exactly "what" type of help do you imagine yourself giving this friend. If he is addicted (a fairly safe assumption if the methadone is prescribed) you then need to forward all complaints and symptoms to his physician. YOU CAN KILL HIM if you self medicate him with unprescribed narcotics and alcohol!

The side effects you were asking about?? Extreme lethargy, hallucinations, somnolence, coma, decreased respiratory function, nausea and vomiting, which if occurred during the period of sleep or coma could kill him (AC-DC front man Bonn Scott died just like that) by choking on his own vomit. His respiratory function could decrease to the point that it is insufficient to support life and he will... you guessed it! DIE. You could shut his liver down. His kidneys could fail.

What are you trying to "help" him with?
