i am concerned that he is experincing extreame sleepiness and respitory depression. his breathing is slow and deep. and he wants to sleep all the time. is this a normal side effect from the methadone or withdraw from the opitate? or should i be concerned that it is perhaps an overdose? i know they monitor the intake of methadone that he is given, i’m just concerned and i don’t know much about the drugs.

after patients work their way up to a high dose why aint they made to work their way back down and wean off of the drug it is awfull to watch a family member killing their self on a legal high,and it is also awfull watching a family member do the things they do to get the money to get the legal high every day.from what i understand it is to get people off of other drugs,but it is no different than buying off the street except the government is getting a pocket full to,i know women who sell their body and do what ever else they have to do to get the drug or get the money to go to the clinic.i wish every methadone clinic would blow sky high

Hello everyone, thanks for reading my question. I have be going to a methadone clinic for the last 5 years due to a heroin addiction. Randomly, we receive drug tests to insure we are clean of all illicit substances. The standard drug test is done by providing a urine sample, however, they will allow people to give an Orasure, which is a swab that goes in your mouth against your cheek for 3 minutes. I always use this test because it is extremely difficult for me to urinate on demand. After the test, whether it be urine or Orasure, they always show you the test bottle/tube with a sticker that says your name so you can confirm that it is indeed your name that is getting sent to the lab with the test. My tests have always said my name, correctly. So the other week, I came into the clinic for my dose (I only go once a week because I have been clean for 5 years straight) and the nurse handed me a paper saying my test came back postive for cocaine. I was shocked, to put it lightly. I NEVER use cocaine. I experimented with it as a teenager, but that is it! So I demanded a retest and oddly enough, it came back confirmed as positive for cocaine. This positive has made me to lose one of my take home bottles of my medicine which means I have to come 5 days a week now as opposed to six. THis is very unfair and I have no way of proving my innocence. And obviously they don’t believe me because in their eyes, I’m just another lying drug addict. This truly offends me because I am now sober, a mother, and a full time college student. I have completely changed my life around and for this to happen is like a smack in the face. Does anybody have any thoughts as to why this test would come back as a positive when I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT use cocaine? Any advice on what I could do to prove that I did not use any drugs? Please help. This is just not fair. Thank you in advance.

I’m a recovering addict.. used to take several pills a day..(not gonna say the amount but it was alot)..I’ve been taking methadone for about 2 years (im down to 43 mg congrats to me cuz thats low)& I would like to get off.. People told me bout this place thats in California and Florida that cleans ur blood so u can detox without any withdrawls.. I also heard that it costs around 10 grand to do, cuz they hook u up to 2 needles one sucks out ur blood and the other 1 puts ur blood back in… and in between the 2 needles is the machine that cleans ur blood squeeky clean (gets rid of everythin drugs and all..)
I just wanted to know if this place actually for real, or if its a rumor.
I just wanna get off methadone and get on with my life drugfree
So if anyone knows anything PLEASE HELP!!

So my best friend started shooting heroin about 8 months ago. It was a shock to all of us, so he went to rehab, got out, started banging out again, then went back to rehab. He’s been clean ever since but has been going to the Methadone clinic every morning like clock work, he has my full support but we got in a fight the other day because I tried to tell him he was still a fiend. I mean he’s obviously addicted to Methadone and he said his milligram was really high, so he still gets faded like he was shooting dope.

Is it wrong me to still call him a fiend???

I just moved back to san diego From las vegas In vegas I was able to get my methadone from a doctor without going to a fucking clinic and forking out $15-25 a day California seems to be different the only way I have found to get my methadone is to go to a clinic everyday..I cant afford 15-25 bucks a day (hell at that rate I may as well go back to using heroin…..Does anyone know a Dr. in san diego that can help….

My wife and I have been together now for 10 years now. She’s 42 and I’m 45. We have a beautiful 7 year old daughter together plus she has a 19 year old daughter from a past relationship. The toughest thing to deal with in our relationship is my wifes migraine headaches. They have been more intense since the conception of our 7 year old. She has been on disbility for the last 2 years because she cant work at all due to the severity of the headaches. They (the headaches) have caused her sisters and friends to become distant from her. Its hard to plan any social activity in advanced since she doesn’t know how she will feel from day to day. Her primary care doctor doesn’t know what to do for her and she goes into depression from time to time. She has tried so many different types of medications and treatments with little or no relief. Currently she is going to a methadone clinic for treatment. This is 7 day a week issue and is taxing on us all. Is anyone else going through the same thing?

My son died on Easter Sunday, April 8,2007 to an overdose after going to a clinic for less than one week for pain, not heroin and he was23. His doseage was increased after 3 days. Please reconsider if you are not a heroine addict.

I’m on 100mg a day . I take it once a day in the morning of course at the clinic and my counsilors think I should go up the nurse thinks I should go down in Mg. I don’t think either really know. I’m not taking any medication and I’m not using any type of drugs. However I am taking about 10-15 ibuprofen a day for to cut some of the pain. This brings the pain level from a 10 to a 7 but I can’t keep taking this many Ibuprofen. God knows what it’s doing to my liver. I really wanted to stay on the Methadone the rest of my life cause I was a junkie for 8 years and this is the one thing that has worked for me. I’m afraid with this joint pain I won’t be able to. Can anyone help me with this or had any experience with this type of joint pain due to methadone?

i was on methadone for 7 months. my dosage went from 30mg. to 100mg. a day. i detoxed myself and completely stopped taking methadone. while on methadone 5 months of it my energy was low now i am exausted all the time. i feel much better without methadone i’m just so tired. if anyone has had this problem please how did you regain your energy back. it’s been 11 day’s now and i’m still very,very tired. honestly i feel like im loosing my mind. done been to my dr. she said my protein level was low to eat more protein and give it time. she said i’m looking at at least 2 months to recover and be myself again. surely there is something i can try. i drink energy drinks,plus take vitamin b. any help would be so appreciated. thanks.
