I went to a detox center to get off opiates. there I learned that I was pregnant?
They sent me home and told me there was nothing they could do about it. I am in my first trimester and addicted to methadone and roxycotin from a bad car accident I had years ago… I heard that it is unhealthy to just stop the opiates cold turkey, when I tried a week ago I started to have a blood clot… so I continued and I took a test.. I was still pregnant… where do I get help to get off these pills at a timely fashion without harming the baby…

First of all, you are correct in assuming that you should not stop cold turkey. Withdrawal will affect your fetus, too. You need to see a doctor who is educated about addiction; try researching doctors in your area who prescribe Suboxone. Suboxone might be useful to you for weaning off the opiates. You should be commended for even attempting to get off the drugs. It’s not easy, but now you are doing it for yourself and someone else who relies on you completely, so it’s very important. You want to be a healthy role model for your child, right? You can do it! Good luck to you, Sweetie.
