Question by Kat: Lower back fractures + excruciating pain?
So I have a bilateral pars defect. Which means on the lowest set of vertebrae in my spine I have a fracture on both sides. It’s incredibly excruciating. I am in pain all day, everyday. My pain fluctuates but never gets below about a 7 on a scale of 1-10. I am completely immune to every pain killer in existence. Please don’t suggest any because I have literally had EVERY painkiller. I wish I was exaggerating. I have had patches, many injections and nerve blocks, several infusions, tried heat and ice, muscle relaxers, IV medications. There’s nothing left to try. I cannot stand how much pain I am in and need to know if Botox or anything like that has helped anyone. I’ve also had acupuncture, cupping, maiofascial release, etc. I have the diagnosis “functional back pain” which in a nutshell means “you’re just in a lot of pain and all we can do is have you do physical therapy”. I’m doing a lot better than before but it is still unbearable. Please suggest anything you can think of!
And I can’t take a higher dose of medications that I’ve tried. I’ve been given so much I’ve stopped breathing. If they gave me a higher dose than what they gave me before, I would die of overdose. I had morphine 24/7 for a week and it was like water to me.
