Question by Lilliana: When is it not healthy to “Tolerate the pain”?
I don’t like taking medicine… I avoid it as much as possible… are you like this? Is it dangerous at some point in time?

BESIDES the obvious if it’s fatal incidents (shot, burning, etc) for those who were about to give a smart-butt answer

I agree on the medicines and I have been tolerating pain for about 2 years now since an accident. I have prescription pain meds but I don’t like to take them. I tolerate the pain up until the point where it is debilitating and then I have to do something about it.. now if I am at home.. then I will just curl up.. if I am out that isn’t an option and I will have to take the med. I do notice that after several days of really bad pain my moods aren’t so happy and my mental status is probably on the verge of snapping and I am slower in my reflexes.. so that probably isn’t healthy.. But is taking the meds healthier? I don’t know.    Read more...

My Mother has been taking Methadone for some time and she needs help..She get’s weekly amounts and then takes to muchj and then go through withdrawls. But when she does have it she mixes it with other opiates. Whatever she can get her hands on ….HELP..She is so messed up? What do I do? What are the sider effects of methadone and opiates together …then going through withdrawl because she takes to much methadone when she gets her weekly doses?

That’s a surprisingly common pattern, and I dare say methadone clinics are nothing but money making machines for many of their patients. There are methadone users who’ve been “in treatment” for decades. All that to say, some people genuinely intend to utilize it for weaning off and away from opioids. An ethical treatment center would call her on her misuse, but since it’s often part of the addiction, kicking her out would also be the wrong thing to do.    Read more...
