This story is so hard to believe, the only way this would even be possible is if he never had taken an opioid before in his life leaving him with absolutely zero tolerance, and he drank a CYP2D6 enzyme inhibitor such as MAOI’s or something as simple as grapefruit juice with the drug, and? even this wouldn’t be enough for 10mg of methadone to be lethal, it was either likely mixed with a mild to moderate amount of alcohol, or he weighed had to weigh less than 90 pounds…Astonishing none-the-less!

of the pills or drink a little more of the liquid then the risk of Overdose kicks in because they? don’t understand that methadone is totally different then other opiates because it takes a lot longer to kick in and stays in your body for up to 90 hours sometimes. Also someone drinking alcohol or suppresents such as benzos “valium,kolonopin,xanax,Halcion,temazepam etc” or barbiturates or a combo of all 3 or 4 then yes one pill can kill very easly! Especially if you don’t have a tolerance etc.
the problem then lies in where people who don’t know much about the effects of methadone and the chemistry of it and how it reacts in the body because someone just trying to get high who say thinks it’s like taking a hydro or an oxy are in for a rude awakening. Because it works relatively well for people who need it for long acting pain especially if other pain meds such ashydrocodne, oxycontin, morphine, fentanyl etc are not working so well. It works for some people. It’s when it get’s into the wrong hands where there becomes a problem such as an addict or a kid experimenting. I would be a little more worried about the? kid experimenting then anything. Methadone has a long half-life and takes time to kick in.
bro I am prescribed 150 mg right now of the liquid and used to be prescribed 160 mg a day of the pills so 16 10 mg pills a day and have taken over 600 mg of methadone along with a ton of xanax 2 mg bars that im prescribed for severe anxiety. It all comes down to tolerance and body chemistry also, genetics. There are a lot of factors but mostly tolerance. So what if he could only handle 15 mg it’s not a game of I can take more then you can. He probably just didn’t have? a tolerance to opiates!
Give them suboxone instead. They don’t get high from the suboxone. It all comes down to the dollar. Suboxone is much much more money over methadone. ?

I have been on this dose for 2 years now, originally on 120mg Oxy Contin for pain management but it never really helped, have a very bad pain history, so my GP recommended I try Methadone, reluctanty I tried it, and it worked, but only after getting to this daily dose, original dose started at 40mg BD, but wasnt anywhere near good enough, then they upped it to 100mg BD, but now I take it in the morning only, last 24hours pain? relief… but the great thing about methadone for me is, no high!

15mg killed him? They gave me 20mg per day. I had a lot of side effects and had to switch to other meds.. Maybe i was ok because i? already had a relatively high tolerance for opiates at that point.

I’m sure you already found out by now, but with zero? tolerance, you probably won’t die from a wafer(40mg methadone pill), but you would get REALLY high. I wouldn’t reccomend a first timer taking 40mg though, it might be a bit too much if you are especially sensistive to opiates, or are a lightweight. Break it in half and you will still feel real good, then wait two hours and do the rest if your not as high as you want to be.
It’s always best to start low and work your way up, just to be safe.
