I was a heroin addicted prostitute 4 8 yrs and was raped & beaten on a regular basis slept next 2 the rail road tracks.Me & my husband IT ALL including our kids! A cop paid 4 us 2 start methadone, if it wasnt for him I would? be dead today. I didnt even have to TRY to quit. I just eventually slowed down my using to zero over 1wks time! We have both been clean for 71/2 yrs now and we are perfectly normal functioning memebers of society today because of methadone!! NOTHING ELSE WORKED
We would be ALOT worse off if they were to close down clinics. Methadone Maintenance Treatment has helped the patients that use it CORRECTLY. If they were to shut down clinics, you’d have a ton of sick addicts running around breaking into homes & cars, a whole lot more violence, a whole lot more drugs & mayhem in your community & the spreading of diseases would probably go? through the roof. Clinics save lives and should NOT be shut down b/c of the people who arent serious about their recovery
Why is methadone evil? Did you quit cold turkey? Because YOU should know better not? to if you did. If you follow the program correctly, then it works! I’m living proof of that, I was on 110 mg/day and I did a slow 2 year taper. I got down to 1/2 mg and quit with no withdrawals and have been clean ever since. People that say methadone is so horrible always end up leaving out important facts in their comments & stories–like what really happened. And Hilter did not create methadone, thats a myth
The doctor at the clinic that I went to for 10 years was actually a great doctor. He actually listened to what the patients said and? wanted to help treat the addictions both with the medication and through counseling. Not all doctors that work at methadone maintenance clinics are bad or “bottom of the barrel.” The doctor that works at my clinic is one of the most respected & reputable psychiatrists in my city.

I was on methadone for 13 years then switched to suboxone/subutex.In Kentucky I was required to go just once every 30 days.Just about every time I went I would have a new counselor. Big turn over in low paying job .I am not burned out I? exercise 6 days a week.This guy ought to have his on TV show.
