Hi all now this might seem like a strange story/question but 5 years ago I was hospitalised as a 15 year old and was in extraordinary pain. Now this is no exaggeration but for about 10 days I was on constantly being given morphine injections by the Special Pain Team at the hospital. It was something like 7 shots a day. I was high as a kite all day to stop me screaming in pain with night time breaks of maybe 8 hours without morphines effects. They took me off for half a day but I kicked up such a stick they put me back on (later they told me I was having a serious withdrawal attack) Then when I went home I was given 2 packets of like 20 pure morphine tablets each and a packet of codeine with maybe 30 tablets. These lasted a week.
I am a very depressed individual and every time I have felt isolated/helpless or any other pathetic emotion I have not been able to stop thinking about those 2 weeks of being bedridden due to the insane pleasure of morphine (anyone familiar with morphine will know what im talking about you seriously cant move you feel that good + your nervous system is compromised).
So this may sound stupid but is there some lingering addiction? OR is it simply a natural craving like someone who enjoys icecream simply wanting to indulge in there favourite snack, or simply me reminiscing for the good ole days?
Please answer fairly I am a very well educated science student, but I really am clueless right now X_X

yeah its pretty hard to get off it but ull be over the shock of it soon
oh wait ur on codeine, errrm they are addictive but they dont contain actual “heroin”, but u can get pretty addicted to it becasue the codeine gives a calming effect, just stop taking em when u run out dont bother gettin any more, also ur idea of replacing them with something else is good, try vanilla ice cream i mean holy crap man that stuff is more addcitive than crack, ive spent like$ 8000 on vanilla ice cream oh maaaaaaan i want some nooooooooowwww!!!!

R u off the meds now? Please don’t use anything else. this in time will pass. the craving will that is. Its all in your head. you have to just tell your self I don’t need that stuff. R u on anything for the depression? If not get some help. Some times the med you use for depression will help with your craving. Please get some help!

I would say that you do have a physical dependance on the opaites. The thing with addiction is that it is a disease (that cannot be cured) which means you are always and addict. When you stay clean you are a recovering addict, but every clean addict its only one mistake away from soing back out, no matter how long they have been clean. You ARE having cravings, but its cravings are attachted to the addiction. I’ll try to explain. Your brain makes natural opaites. Whenyou start using opaites the body gets flooded with them and the brain makes more places to store it. Eventually your body stops making the things you need because you are getting it somewhere else, and another part of addiction is always wanting more, more, more because the brain is so full of receptors and un til they get filled withdrawl symptoms fit in. Once and addict, always an addict. To me that measn that your addiction is always waiting for you to mess up.
I hope that you can get the problems work out. I suggest looking into a methadone clinic. I went to 8 rehabs, 5 detoxes not to mention the times I tryed to detox myself. The clinic saved my life and don’t let people sacre you away (6% of those are fake lies, or if a family tells a story about how :methadone” killed thier loved one in the clinc. It was not the methadone, ALL of them I’ve heard were because they mixed drugs in, Xanax other benzos, getting drunk, taking barbituates. Don’t be scared to try that route, and if you have more than one near you, check them both out.
