Methadone Addiction: Invisible – a documentary about heroin addiction

Trailer for “Invisible” a documentary by Konstantin Bojanov. After the crumbling of the Soviet empire, heroin flooded the streets of many cities behind the former Iron Curtain. Heroin offered an alternative lifestyle largely unknown until then. In the late 1990s heroin addiction in Eastern Europe had reached epidemic proportions. Invisible takes place in Sofia, Bulgaria and follows a group of six young people on a three year journey through the highs and lows, dreams and tribulations of living with heroin addiction. The story bypasses the social problems and dynamics associated with addiction and focuses on the existential views and philosophies of the participants. The film provides a platform for their ideas and concepts of the world surrounding them. The participants represent a group of “social outcasts”, who remain largely invisible in society. They are members of a generation eager to discover and explore the new “commodities”. Invisible is unprecedented in the intimacy with which it portrays its subjects. The film presents perspectives influenced by euphoria as well as the sobering reality that follows, without passing judgments, trivializing, denigrating, or exploiting the subjects. DVD available on Netflix and Amazone.com
Video Rating: 4 / 5

11 months clean, but it took me catching a felony possession charge, and sitting in jail for 5 months before i decided i didnt want this lifestyle anymore. I am STILL in recovery & dont great. It’s possible, but you really have to work hard for it and decide you dont want to live like that anymore!

One of my employees successfully sued me for £100k+ after claiming he’d suffered “crippling loss of self-esteem” due to my comments.

He’d been a real pain in the office, constantly showing everybody pictures of his young son. All I did was wish him well “this time around”, pointing out that he’d been “a failure as a parent the 1st time”- which was TRUE (a son from his first marriage had overdosed at 17).

Apparently this amounts to some sort of hate crime. Whatever happened to free speech?

You’re taking a realist stance, yet fail to understand your lack of moral backup in this case. We should not let those with a problem die off in an attempt to aid in stabilizing a more healthy population, but should instead educate so people no longer have an enormous amount of children. That is not only a more moral approach, but a tremendously more effective one as well. Remember, you say that until it’s your father or friend or child with the addiction.

WOW documentaries can be about some serious stuff… but a lot of times its very important to hear. Another doc that I watched just a little while ago called “Programming the Nation?” had a very serious message to convey as well. bitly .com/oQ0ZVk
It was very well done and educational.

@sammie6921 I am really proud of you. I was a 3 year herion addict and have done the dumbest shit. We all have a story and we all have made mistakes. Sammie although you are still struggling with it, I give you props because you do what you do and you still hold your own for you and your family. I hope though that, you do eventually get off, and I am sure you have heard everything in the book “to how to quick”. There is nothing anyone can do or say, its all you love. Ps. Fuck you ledyob!
